A suggestion for the media….

We have at present a plethora of programmes and news items dedicated to the recession, what caused it, how bad it is and who’s to blame.  That’s fine, I can’t complain about that.

But how about a few equally well publicised programmes about how to deal with the recession.  Where to find jobs, interview tips, money saving strategies etc etc.

This came to my mind when I watched last weeks Panorama on Woolworths.

That’s not a bad idea. As dirty as I feel saying that.
The trouble is, it’s actually really really difficult to find work at the moment, especially if you are not interested in working in telephone sales or recruitment. I’m not too sure that it would be too easy to create a programme about where to find jobs, simply because there aren’t many going! For young people this is a real problem (my own catch-22 is that I can’t get work due to lack of experience, but nowhere will give me any experience).

i just think we should start being, maybe not positive, but defintely supportive. it really doesn’t do any good for the media to constantly be painting a gloomy picture. we all know the situation is gloomy, but we need to start helping eachother more to get ourselves back on track. that would be the message of the programme i want to see…do you think i should apply to panorama for a job??

You can apply by all means. I wouldn’t hold your breath if I were you though. Good news is so much harder to sell than bad.

Actualy the papers have been pumped full of recession busting tips- the Guardian even persuaded a middle class family to shop in Lidl… “It was actually not as horrendous as we expected, but we think we’ll stick with Sainsburys”, bless

Not much on telly though and that is what most people see. Maybe we could get Jamie Oliver to teach everyone how to teach from scratch, it is so so much cheaper and yet no one seems to notice this. Ooh I could host a show on vegan cooking, it costs nothing. We’ll solve recession and obesity in one fell swoop :D

I’m going to enjoy seeing Labour-supporting students ridden with debt fail to get their foot on the career ladder. You could have learnt about socialism the easy way, but instead you’ll be learning the hard way.

Shame that people who didn’t cheerlead the government which led us into this dreadful economic situation will also be affected.

You are going to enjoy seeing people unemployed?!

I think you need a hobby, or some sort of pastime, because it is clear you are have a pretty miserable time of it at the moment if that is how you get enjoyment.

Labour has existed on promoting its placemen throughout the public sector with disastrous results. If these corrupt opportunities will not be available to the next generation of Labour supporters, I will be delighted.

I have plenty of hobbies already. Annihilation of the Labour Party is one of my favourites.

I’m sure that not all, or even most, young labour suppoters will be applying for jobs within the public sector. Just sounds like petty victimisation on your part really…

Also, I think it is far more than ‘a shame’ that people all over the country are unable to get into work, it is a terrible position for anyone to be in. Your comments show a complete lack of empathy and understanding of the situation people are finding themselves in up and down our country.

Sure, the Labour government haven’t secured jobs, or reduced the impact of this recession in the way they would have hoped, but I think that it is pretty pathetic to sit back and enjoy the economic hardships that people are facing, no matter what their political affiliation is.

Are we now all agreed that John Richie was right to condemn ‘Tory rehtoric’? If you have anything meaningful to say on the economy (and we all know that you don’t) then say it and you can get some exercise ‘running rings around me’. lmao!

    I love Jack Matthew!!
