I think she’s right in saying that they shouldn’t have airbrushed it, but wrong about Britain needing an “alpha male” – must we keep reinforcing these stereotypes? In what way do alpha males make good leaders in the 21st century? We need non-aggression, the ability to listen and compromise, and sensitivity towards the needs of others.
It’s because conservatism as an ideology, is heavily based on the ideas of authority and leadership, look Maggie, only ever woman PM and in the words of my politics lecturer, Peter Kerr, “Mrs Thatcher?…..Oh no, she was man!”
